My 2005 F150 has the same high pitched alternator whine. I have noticed for the last few years, it is becoming more common. 3 years ago it only happened below 10 degrees, last year below 20 degrees and now it seems to occur below 30 degrees quite often.

Q: Will this ever become a true problem with a bearing going out or leave me stranded somewhere? Or is it truly just an annoying whine for the life of the alternator?
