To Z plan or not
Without knowing what dcinia's MSRP was, if he bought a Platinum, then he didn't get below z-plan with $4500 off, but if it was an XL, then he maybe he did. Maybe they made up the difference by lowballing his trade.

Where did I post that they told me that? You stated rebates were already factored into Z plan pricing. That is why I posted the invoice, to show that they are not.
As I stated in both posts I got the incentives, I negotiated 37,300, then got 3,000 in rebates (at the time), which left 34,300.

Like I said I was not clear. When I said Rebates were already factored into Z, I meant that your dealer should have automatically made that deduction. They should show you Z and then show you the bottom line price with the rebates deducted. This is not something you should have to ask the dealer for. The rules for these plans are very clear cut as to what the dealer is supposed to do.
The issue here is that's I cannot understand how you can negotiate a deal better than X or Z. With X the dealer only makes a very small commission on the sale. I cannot believe a dealer would be willing to take less than that and keep the lights on in the place. Z is actually for less than the dealer paid for the vehicle and ford will reimburse the dealer to make up the difference.
The bottom line is the dealer is playing with the numbers. Like you just said they can and will short you on the trade. The issue is that if they are giving you better than X or Z than mostly likely they really aren't. They are either not showing you the right Invoice or shorting on something else like your trade.
If it sounds to good to be true, it most likely is.
I had an x-plan pin number. I wish I could get A or Z plan. I didn't mention that I had it, I wanted to negotiate a price and use that as a trump card if they couldn't do better. I bought from a salesman (now used car manager) that I have done business with before and sent several referrals to.
Getting below x plan pricing seems to be pretty common, since I have bought mine in Sept '09, I have read several posts about others that have done the same. One thing you have to be mindful of is if they beat x-plan by $100 and have a $250 doc fee, you would be better off going x-plan because the doc fee is capped at $75.

Been on vacation for the past week or so: final post on this dead horse!

7/10 got in touch with dealer #1 via USAA car buying service
7/10 dealer #1 (nearly 200 miles away) calls me and says he has a truck nearly identical to what I requested. I mention I am elgible for Z plan, how does USAA stack against Z plan?
Sticker: $44625, Z plan quote (minus $4500 in rebates) is $34656 BUT "with our deals right now, I think I can beat Z plan let me call you back. USAA will be the highest of the three options though"
7/10 dealer #1 calls me back and says "I see you have the $750 coupon Ford was giving out as a promotion, with that, I can beat the Z Plan by about $300, cost to you will be $34375, this is the $4500 Ford rebates + our dealership rebates + $750 coupon. NOTE: $750 coupon does not apply with A or Z plan.
7/12 call local dealer (dealer #2), tell him, Dealer #1 has the truck I want on his lot, what is Z-Plan? I would prefer to buy it from you.
7/12 Dealer #2 calls back "Z-Plan on that truck with $4500 in Ford rebates is $34656 (same as dealer #1)
7/12 message to Dealer #2 can you get it and...here is the $$$ deal from dealer #1. Can you match? Dealer #2 says "I'll have to call you back"
7/12 Dealer #2 calls back and says "I can match Z-Plan but I'm not sure how they (dealer #1) went below Z-Plan".
Financed the total for one of the $1,000 Ford Rebates was $36,469.75 with ttt
Now.....I told my dealer if he could get it at Z-Plan, I would be willing to take the $300 hit to make a local sale. Long story short, they ticked me off and I drove the 2.5 hrs. to get the truck. Love it, came in under Z -plan, think I got one heck of a deal, end of story.
Only thing it didn't have was side steps, I ordered some of the 5" Raptor series.
By the way, thanks to all of you, this purchase has been a long time coming and I've spent countless hours on here researching this truck to death. I wanted to fall in love with a Tundra but that didn't happen, I fell in love with the Ford!
