Maybe I'm just getting old, but to replace it strictly for having a loud sound, I can't understand.

I love the sound of a nicely prepped V8 as much as anyone, but it does get to a point where the sound can be very loud and annoying to others, and that includes diesels, Harleys, and fart can imports.

FWIW, my Challenger has a little more done than a straight cat-back to have 40hp increase, SRT ceramic coated race headers, CAI, etc.
So you say that exhausts are annoying to others..

..Yet you have a catback on your challenger?

Fwiw, age has nothing to do with it. My dad is 58 and plants his foot into his 6.2 many times per day to hear the song. If you're a real car guy, you will never outgrow the sound of an engine. Only reason I ended up with my silent ecoboost is because it is really THAT good. Look at stock Maserati granturismo videos and tell me if that exhaust wouldn't "annoy" people. Anyone who puts their foot into it in a residential area is called an ******* and should not be considered the benchmark for all exhaust stereotypes. Any considerate person steps on it out on the highway where there's lots of noise to begin with.

Real car or truck guys would wouldn't put exhaust on an automatic for the sound. I love my eco boost because its quiet. I hate the sound of automatic. The only automatic i can handle is a diesel I love the diesel sound. My buddies got a GTR with an exhaust I love the loud twin turbo sound of that car but its a manual shift, When you make your automatic truck loud it sounds so bad when the tranny shifts, its almost as bad as a civic with a fart can.

The sarcasm was kind of uncalled for lol. I noticed the increase and felt it warranted mentioning. It probably varies with engine and gearing per truck but with my 5.4/3:31 setup that's what I saw driving highway.

Not a cat-back, but a full on performance exhaust from the block to the tailpipe. I didn't buy it for the sound, but for the performance improvements as I take the car on the track regularly. It sounds throaty, but not ear piercing, like many vehicles I see on the street daily.

I will never get too old to enjoy the sound of a true performance engine on a race track, whether it be the sound of a turbo Indy engine, to the sweet sounds of a Ferrari 458 running Road America or Watkins Glen.

Hey, I hit reset getting on the freeway on my 1 hr drive to Denver for the MPG in my display and that's what it told me all the way in each instance I was referencing. Yes I know its not close to 100% but its something to help gauge. Again, Sarcasm not required.

I did it for the weight savings. That stock cat back weighs as much as the truck.

Actual performance engines where larger exhaust actually helps the performance is okay but a stock engine with big exhaust is almost pointless and sounds like ***. Most trucks with loud exhaust would have been better off with the money spent elsewhere on the vehicle.
