Default Wondering what this is..?

I have a 2014 SCAB STX 4x4 and was installing the trailer brake controller the other day. To the left of where the trailer brake controller goes, there are 3 or 4 slots in the trim piece and there is a circuit board behind those slots. Mine is filled with a lot of dust. Was wondering what that circuit board does and if anyone has every cared to clean out the dust that accumulates in there.

Thanks!

It's the cabin ambient air temperature sensor, tells the A/C - heater to come on and off as needed. Probably a good idea to clean it just to keep the A/C - Heater operating at optimum.

All the 2011+ have auto AC-heat. The controls might look manual, but actually they are just an illusion made to look like manual.

Thanks for the info. Do you know how it actually works? I did not know that and I would be interested in knowing how that system works.

Me too! I want to know how it works! I have had the AC come on by itself in my 2011 many times and it pisses me the hell off. I don't want to waste gas on a pampered driver perk... that's what windows are for. It ends with me having to leave the system off for the duration of summer.

Nothing fancy about it. It senses the temperature and compares that to the setting and the system decides how much hotter, or cooler, to blow the air to hit the desired temperature. The dial that you rotate from cold to hot is the set temperature.

It does not come on by itself. You probably bumped the dial or button, they are very sensitive.
