Default Wiring spice

So I just picked up a 13 Limited with only 29K miles. I was checking everything out and noticed this wiring spliced from the harness that goes al the way back to behind the taillights and wondering if anyone can tell me what this could have been for or what wire this is spliced onto?! And what I can use it for, guessing previously it could have been to a camper shell light accessory?

Splice off the harness

Location of final run. Tucked under plastic bed frame cover behind tail light.

Have you used a test light or dvm and see if and when the wire has power !

not yet, I didn’t know if you wizards could tell me off the bat which wire that was, and when / what triggered it 😂. I should grab my volt meter and give it a go!

It's a factory wire for a topper.

To clarify. The wire sticking out is a factory wire that they put in there because toppers are so popular. The wire running back to the tail is not factory.

Yumps, there used to be a camper shell on it. It’s for the 3rd brake light.
