Default Winter rim problems ....

Ok, here's the situation.
I have a 2011 Supercrew XTR. I believe it originally had 18" wheels but my package was done by the dealer which included 20" wheels with 35" tires. I just put a winter wheel/tire package together this week. I bought a used set of 2010 wheel (17") and installed winter tires (265/70/17).

Today I sat in the driveway and attempted to change the wheels over to the winters. I removed the front driver's side wheel and put the winter one on. The bolt holes lined up fine but the wheel wouldn't seat on the hub properly. I Looked in behind and it looks like the upper tie rod end (?) is preventing the wheel from going on (it hits the inside of the rim).

Is this wheel just not compatible with my truck or am I missing something? Is it an offset issue or rim size?

I will include some pics of the truck and wheels but I doubt they will help explain the problem.

Any help or advice is greatly appreciated.

Sorry to sound like an idiot but what is that and what can I do about it to make this wheel fit?

With that lift those winter tires are gonna look puny :?

What kind of tires are the 35s ?.....lots of aggressive tires are good in the snow, some even have the snow flake symbol.

I agree, I'd rather not put them on, but I left my good rims and tires on last winter and I can see a bit of pitting starting on the rims. Not so worries that the tires won't be good enough, more worried about saving my rims.

The rims are 20" Dick Cepek with 35x12.5x20 Mickey Thompson ATZs.

The stock rims won't work with the aftermarket lift kit.

This^^^

It looks like you have a suspension lift kit. Most lift kits are not compatible with the smaller diameter OEM wheels. Some kits are not compatible at all with OEM wheels. However, you could purchase some 1.5" hub-centric spacers to make the OEM wheels fit. IMHO, I'd just run the 35s you already have.
