Default Windshield Waxing??

Does waxing the windsheild really work? Some are saying it makes the wipers work much better.

A buddy of mine swears by this. He's been waxing his windshield for about 10 years now. Seems to last longer than rainx

I wax all of my windows on the outside. Especially this time of the year with lots of salt and road grime. It really makes keeping them clean alot easier and not to mention I find the windows don't seem to frost up as heavy and when they do get frosty it takes way less heat from the heater for them to clear.

I think it works. My 2004 front window was so pitted from highway winter driving that unless I waxed it I couldn't keep it clean.

Have not gotten around to waxing the new trucks front. I might do it after this beer, probably not though.

What kind of wax do you use? I use block wax on my table saw, jointer and planer. Would I use the same solid wax or some kind of liquid form?

Try this. www.zainostore.com look for the z-cs. It's a new product that works on paint, chrome, plastic, rubber, and glass. I used it on my whole truck and it looks great! Easy to apply and lasts a long time!

I highly recommend waxing the windshield, I have done it on all of my trucks, using Meguiars Yellow(carnuba) wax. It helps the wipers last a little longer also (less friction and usage). I drove from NC, back home to NJ last summer for 9 hrs, in the middle of Hurricane Irene and used my wipers 15 min max. Basically only when caught at a traffic light, etc. Its extremely simple and causes no ill effects, go for it....

I always used Rain-X and never considered waxing the windshield. It doesn't streak in the rain or snow with the wipers on?
