Will 2014 be the year for the complete makeover?
This automotive writer seems to think 'summer' 2014 [will] be the model year for the complete makeover of the F-150; with the 2013 "nip-n-tuck" as a bridge to this completely new truck, as GM introduces their new make-over model late this summer.
I know, this thread will drive crazy, those with 12's either on order or on the train/truck right now.
Hmmmm, maybe I should hold off on a new '13? A year goes by so fast.....it seems like just yesterday, I picked up my new '09.
....Plans for the next generation Ford trucks are being closely guarded. Ford’s chief rival is Chevrolet/GMC with new pickup trucks expected from GM’s truck brands in 2013 as 2014 models. Those trucks were last changed for the 2007 model year while the current Ford F-150 was introduced with the 2009 model year. New Ford trucks might be brought to the market in late 2013, but Auto Trends expects a summer 2014 release....

I think we won't see it until 2015 as a spring 2014 release. Too many changes for a "1 year" deal, they would have left the 2013 alone if 2014 was "the year" I know fords shooting for a 400-500# diet on the trucks and shirley that don't mean bigger payloads and more towing, I actually expect slightly lower capacities. The highest capacity 1/2 ton trucks are being sold right now and will slowly return to true 1/2 ton trucks in the next 10 years.
Actually with these changes, I wouldn't be suprised to see a "Heratige Editon" again in 2015 with both current and new body styles avalible.

It looks like 2015 will be the redesign. Like mentioned above, I don't think they would do anything to the 2013's if they planned on a complete redesign for 2014. If I had to take a guess, the 2015 will be a smaller version of the current trucks and much lighter. I anticipate extensive use of aluminum and possibly magnesium and most likely many other changes to achieve fuel economy standards. An 8 speed trans and a 4 cylinder Ecoboost option wouldn't surprise me as well. If I were you, I'd pick up a 2013 or 2014.

You know; your assessment might be correct? Looking at that test mule, and even though it is covered up, the rear end looks the same and with just a more aero-front end? Nothing dramatic or a really complete change to the look. Of course we do not know yet what the drive trains will look like?
However, I think I will just go with my original plan and pick up a '13 with the HID's and the new Nav!

From the looks of it, the 2013/2014 trucks will be more capable than the 2015 F150. Pure speculation of course.
