I've had no issues with my Pirelli's even in heavy snow. Just put in 4WD High and the the thing grips to the road. I have 5600 miles on my tires.

I think that if you'll go back and re-read Tussin Wolf's post, you'll see that he was being sarcastic about demanding Goodyears.

The majority of people that I have seen that are having problems are those with the ATR's for some reason.
Is that how it goes now? FX4's come with scorpion ATR's? Been out of the loop for awhile, as I no longer work at a ford dealer. But my old boss at the dealer would get demo trucks every 4 months. He had 3 FX4's, 2 platinums, and 1 harley davidson, all came with scorpion STR's, not ATR's. I'm just asking, not trying to be negative.

Well supposedly the ATR stands for all terrain and the STR is street tire or something. I test drove 3 FX4's while I was waiting on my FX2 to arrive and had each of them about 2 weeks each. They all had the ATR's on them. I went back for my free oil change and any 4wd F-150 I saw w/ 20" wheels had the STR's on them. By that time I had read in several places people complaining and then saw how different the tread was on those compared to mine.

I could certainly be wrong, but at least in my area, all the 4wd 20's are ATR's and all the 2wd 20's are STR's.

Jocksagent was right TJFX2EB. I too thought it was ridiculous for anyone to demand anything, especially because the Goodyear is a different sized spare tire....

My Lariat 4x4 came factory with ATR's. So far I love them. As for the steel 18" spare that's the standard one for all Fords. Don't think I'd want an expensive 20 inch aluminium wheel underneath getting hit by rocks, road salt and whatever else.

no worries, i wasnt looking for a matching aluminum wheel, i wouldnt expect that at all. I just figured having a "full size" spare would mean a 20" wheel and matching tire to go with it. so in all technicalities, its not a true full size spare

I have a 2012 FX4 and am in the same situation as you. I dont think it matters much or Ford would not have built it that way.

I have no issues with my Pirelli tires, in fact everyone that has seen the tires has made a comment like, wow, you even have Pirelli tires on there. No problems or complaints here.

Actually, "in all technicalities", it is a true full size spare. It's just not a matching spare.
