Default Where Silverado's are actually better

If I had to choose Hid's or Awd. I'm going with the headlights every time.

I used auto 4x4 all winter in pa and never noticed any type of delay. However I was reluctant to use it because I thought it would have a delay and cause more problems then it's worth. The best part about it is I just set it and forget it, no worries. My trucks tracks so straight in the snow/ice with it, never put it in 4hi all winter.

No need to stop to go in or out of 4x4 high, it's on-the-fly. When I'm rolling up to a small town with stoplights and turns to make, I click it into 4H as I'm slowing down to the reduced speed limit for that town. I click back to 2wheel when I'm through and back up to highway speed, between 45 and 55.

I don't know about you guys with this HID requirement.

I ran HID's since 2003 in my SUV and in my Hayabusa.
So I'm intimately familiar with them but the Ford Halogen headlights in my 2013 are PLENTY good.

The only reason to upgrade to the projector $1,000 headlight housings is for Vanity at this point.

If you never drive anywhere dark like most of you don't I am sure they are. I'm in the northern wilderness... there are no cities here.... no lights anywhere and lots of animals. The Ford halogens are garbage even in comparison to my old 05 Sierra it replaced and i just ran halogens bulbs in it.... high beam was like shutting the lights off... hell I had better coverage on low beam except no distance in front of the truck. I'm not into light bars and all that aftermarket stuff as if I can get decent high beam coverage from the trucks lights. The Hids provide that. I had no problem with my halogens setup in my 10 year old Sierra either. I made it better as i jumpered the lows and highs together for high beam but then Gm did that for mw after the bodystyle change in 2007. Try driving outside your never ending city and see how much you like the Ford halogen candles.

Take this as an example. The company I contract too has run exclusively gmc trucks for decades.... they are the largest oil company in Canada. Up to 2014 the quad beam halogens were great... no complaints. Well in 14 they went to projectors and a single halogen 9012 bulb... which resulted in the kind of junk light output like these Fords. They buy 1000s of trucks a year here... gave gm a chance to fix the gmcs and they didn't. They have been cited as a safety hazard and now they only buy Chevrolet as the Chev's retain the 4 bulb system like the 13 and older. Lights are important...

Just wow. This entire thread.

If you need your truck to decide for you, whether or not it's time to use 4 wheel drive, you already have a problem. If you determine it's time to use it, switch it on. You already have the convenience of not having to lock the hubs in manually. And I read a few posts about "if you start sliding around the truck will engage 4 auto and" this and that. If you're sliding around, the automatic 4 wheel isn't going to magically regain traction for you at all 4 corners.

I feel bad for the guys in the southern states that get surprised by ice and snow once in awhile. Here in WI it's 6 months of the year we deal with that so we know what to expect and you gain skill on how to handle everything. You poor guys get ambushed and then we get to see it on the news. Like what happened in GA not long ago when people abandoned cars on the freeway over 2" of snow.

I like to have control of my machines. Transmission, locks, windows, transfercase and hubs. Sadly in this world of "MAKE THIS EASIER" we've lost most of those options.
