Default wheel spacers

I'm considering adding wheel spacers. I'm not a fan of aftermarket wheels, and I also love the 2014 FX wheels, which I have. I want just a hair wider stance, but am not sure what spacers to get.

In looking around, what I gather is that I want the spacer to at least be as wide as my wheel studs are long, so that I don't have to modify the wheel studs (cut them down) at all.

So, that said ... anyone know the stud length on the 2014's?

I know I can take a wheel off and measure, but before I go do that, I thought I'd ask here first.

Thanks.

Wiggum,

I am dealing with the same scenario as you except I have the Platinum wheels. Desert Dawg on here is using a set of 1.5" wheel spacers from Fred Goeske, (wheeladapter.com). I have been looking at the same set and from my understanding 1.5" is the minimum you can use without cutting the oem wheel studs. Also, you need to make sure that the spacers are hub centric which these are. Hope this helps.

Wiggum ... anyone know the stud length on the 2014's?
As noted ... The studs are 1½" long (2014 or whatever year).

You can go with a minimum adapter thickness of 1¼". Why? The rims' lug nut seat thickness and the fact that the lug nut does not go down to the hub flange.

Hub centric, hub centric, hub centric ... The adapters MUST be hub centric.

-MisInformation-

As noted in the post above, 1¼" wheel adapter thickness is OK.

You can go 1" ... AS LONG AS THERE ARE RECESSES IN THE BACK OF THE RIMS' MOUNTING FLANGE BETWEEN THE LUG NUT HOLES. This allows the tips of the studs to safely extend into the mounting flange. *Most OEM rims have them.

one other thing ... I realize the importance of hub-centric spacers... but i'm having a very hard time visualizing non-hub-centric spacers. Can someone show me what those would look like?

Example of one of the worst examples ...
  • no centric lip for the rim to align to.
  • center bore TOO LARGE and not hub centric.
Should look like this ...
