You are correct about stock F150 wheels not being 9" wide, regardless of the wheel diameter.

However, the stock 20" wheels are 8.5" wide, (20" x 8.5" with +44mm offset).

OK, got the 18 x 9 Fuel Vapors installed today. With the truck being leveled and running Nitto 295x70R18's, the tires did more than rub! The difference in offset from the stock wheels was too much for these tires. After getting home with a bunch of WIDE turns, I was able to trim both front (a lot) & back of opening. Doesn't look bad because tires hide most of the cuts but I know it's there. Anyway here's a few photos for reference.
