Wheel Locks
Thieves look for opportunity, dealing with a lock lug is on the bottom end of the opportunity scale.
You can argue all you want but lock lugs DO offer a little bit of security against theft.
Why you can't see the how is beyond me.

I agree. I have the Gorilla locking system on my Corvette wheels. If someone wants those wheels, they are going to have to pry twenty locked/keyed lugs off. It may not stop them, but it will definitely slow them down and make them work for it or simply look for an easier target.
OK, so in case anyone else is wondering, Progressive offers $1k built in to comprehensive for aftermarket whatever, & up to $5k additional coverage at a fee (so, $6k in total potentially available). That fee is $37 per $1k increment, per vehicle, for 6 months (=$6.17/mth). It too though is subject to whatever the deductible. Also noteworthy is that it's prorated - so brand new = full value, 50k miles = peanuts.
Of course your plan may vary & different insurance co's offer different protection. Just wanted to share to give you some idea

Why you can't see how the locking lugs don't deter any criminal is beyond me.
- they are not a deterrent to professional thiefs. *At best they may (?) slow them down a little.
- they may (?) keep the honest people honest.
- they are easily (and quickly) circumvented.
- they are a PITA.
- key(s) are often (and easily) lost and/or misplaced.
- the added interface (key) adds a(nother) point of difficultly in removing the lug nut (lock). *Especially since the torque spec' is 150 ft-lbs.
- will require a quality ½" drive, long handle ratchet, an extension, and appropriate socket. *You don't REALLY think that you'll be removing them with the OEM tire iron do you?

R&L's F150 - You seem to be discounting the fact that a lot of thieves are a bunch of stupid fu#*s, not professionals.....

The way I see it:
My final assessment: Bought a few mins here & a few mins there, but insurance is the kicker. Peace of mind for $325 that covers more than the wheels works for me. On top of all that, I get to have my AC a' blowin when I get into my truck! Would've paid triple for that (it's an Arizona thing)
- 1 set of locks was 1% of my wheels/tires = least I could do. Works anywhere, but only buys 1-5mins (thief will have to plan ahead & also invest in 4x 12pt sockets since you can't see my nuts/locks)
- Not perfect, but gives me a couple minutes & grab my gun or beast someones a**. Only works if I'm near my truck
- $2k additional ins coverage ($3k total) = $72/6mths, then I can tier it down as the tires wear. Works anywhere me or the truck are
- Perimeter alarm + LR remote start was only $225, but the LED should deter. Works wherever I'm at, but can depend where I leave my truck. Gives me a little more time, but if nobody hears/cares about the honking...
