Default What's wrong with my nuts?

Was wondering if anyone else is having this issue with their gorilla powder coated lug nuts. There is brown spots on them. At first I thought maybe it was brake dust deposits but my iron-x didn't take it off. I'm thinking their starting to rust underneath the powder coat. They've just barely been on the truck a year and it's not really driven in the winter.

Thats what happens when you dont cover them up. I hate having my nuts exposed. That my friend is the beginning of rust. The metal wasn't cleaned well enough before they painted them, or some moisture was trapped when they sprayed them.

Best to be cautious when dealing with an occurrence of unknown origin.

Shot of penicillin should take care of that.

Always wear nitrile gloves when working on vehicles and especially when handling nuts with strange deposits!

I have the same lug nuts on my truck, they were doing that also but not quite to that extreme. I wiped them down with never dull then hit them with the dremel with the cotton buffing wheel attachment. It all came off, but I have a feeling I'll be doing it every time I rotate my tires.
