Default Whats this wire? Pics of 5.0 engine

Well. I haven't seen many pics of the 5.0 engine on here when I was looking to decide what engine to get. So here are some shots of mine (it's dirty though sorry). Next time I clean it I'll up some more.

If anyone can tell me what the blue wire is in the first pic would be appreciated.

looks like a consumer wire that goes through the firewall for later use.
my 350 superduty had four of em in a small bundle one end inside the cab near the fuse panel and the other end exiting the firewall near the brake booster.

Default Wire

Looks like it was added latter, since it's not part of the factory harness.
Have you traced the wire to see were it comes from and goes to?

Agreed that it was added later but it appears to have an In-Line Fusible Link in it judging by the first pic....

Haven't traces it yet. I only noticed because I was putting some washer fluid in and decided to finally take a look at the engine lol. Been driving so much since I picked it up.

it is a consumer access wire, the end is an insulated capend
if you look on the other side of the firewall inside the cab you should find it

its exposed and yes looks like an add on for a purpose...so us as consumers can find it

go to
fordfleet.com and read the body builders pages about electrical its there.

https://www.fleet.ford.com/truckbbas...0/maintoc.html
and as luck would have it the 2011 f150 is unavailable
but the 2010 will open, its slow so be patient

I FIXED THE LINK sorry

Wow. Nice find thanks. That is incredibly thoughtful of ford! Although the comment of not exceeding maximum output of the alternantor is wrong as a 21 Gauge wire can't handle that much amperage

Looking at that photo makes me a little mad. No excuse for a new truck motor to look that dirty. I hope Ford fixes that big **** hole around the wheel wells that let all that water and mud fling all over the motor. I can wash my wife's engine bay (camry) and it still looks good 3 months later(just a little dusty). My last truck (08 Tundra) also looked good 3 months later. But I still love my new Ford truck. Just wish I could clean the motor and have it stay that way fo a while. Oh and sorry I can't help on the blue wire but agree w/what was already said.
