Remember those....1156/57. I don't remember thinking they sucked or I just accepted that all reverse lights were lame at the time.

I think at that time very few people had light on the back of their truck as powerful as most headlights. So we all just accepted that reverse lights were not that bright. Then again, my s10 has 1156 reverse bulbs and when I backed up I could see if I was going to back into a tree well before I was feet away from it. Whatever they use now are far less affective than the older bulbs. I cant wait for the day when LEDs just come stock on everything.

years ago, I saw this in a post here.

I was checking in to see if anyone has done anything new with the terrible backup lights. Seems this is still the cheapest easiest option aside from the phillips led lights mentioned.

I bought this in 2012. I am just now having to replace it. couple black zip ties and this thing has worked like a champ.

Why does my link to amazon show a link to home depot???

I've had the same light on my truck for the last 2 years. It works awesome and is super bright. It's the best $18 I spent on my truck. Tractor supply has them in stock locally.

Do they shine much light at night? I'm thinking of going this route.

Do you leave this plugged in all the time?
Does it cause the truck to think you have a trailer connected?

These are more of a flood then a spot light. The work great for lighting up the surrounding area but they aren't going to project like spot lights. They work fine for my needs(lighting up the area 20-30 ft behind the truck so I can see/hook up trailer)

Thanks, I would be looking at floods too. Sounds like they would fit my needs. I want a pretty flat, low-profile light. i don't like the look of duallys or anything like the. I just need something to improve the reverse lighting as the existing reverse lights do all but nothing.

Digging up this dinosaur of a thread to see what people think about swapping out my SR's and D2's for this new offering. Im very interested in having a huge amount of light thrown out to the sides as well as the back and i think these new lights could possibly be the answer

Current Set Up

New lights?
