Default What is this terrible noise?!

Almost 40,000 kms on my 2010 SCrew XLT with the 5.4L 3V.

Just a days ago on start-up and also when ever the truck comes to about 1000 rpm it makes this horrible noise. I looked below and it isn't coming from underneath. I thought it might have been a cat.

When I got out it seems like it's coming from the engine area...front end of the truck for sure.

An exhaust heat shield perhaps?

Please check out the video attached (may have to turn up speakers a wee bit) and comment.

Thanks!

Take it to the dealer and show them the video so they can't say there isn't anything wrong

Almost sounds like a heat shield on the exhaust system somewhere starting to vibrate due to a couple spot welds probably starting to rust away. (That is what it sounds like listening to it on my phone).
I'd get underneath & look at the exhaust & any heat shields. Keep us posted!

Yeah. I was thinking that and hopefully it is. Good thing I bought the extended bumper-to-bumper warranty.

I would have to agree with the bearing. You can hear the grinding

Ugh, I hope it isn't that. But like I said... Bought the extended warranty. Looks like it may pay off.

When I go tomorrow I'll let you all know what they say.

Thanks for reaching out about this, E-Town F150. Have you visited the dealer yet for a diagnosis? Please let me know; I'll be on the lookout for a status update!

Took my truck in this morning. It was indeed a heat-shield clamp that has worn causing a vibration.

All is fixed with a new clamp and 1hr of labour.

I love my truck again.
