What should I use to clean my wheels before plastidipping?

Also instead of taping anything off, take a glossy tire spray and very carefully shine up the sidewalls of your tire...
The reason for this is that you have to do absolutely zero masking with tape. Just spray the plasti dip right over your tires and it will peel right off because it doesnt stick to the tire shine.

Brake cleaner leaves a residue that will affect adhesion. Try something cheaper and much much better: denatured alcohol (available at any hardware store)

I ran mine through a carwash, let it dry, then sprayed. No special solutions, degreasers, or anything, and mine has held up well for months with no signs of wear at all.

So Brian asked for pictures of completed wheels. I have attached 3 pictures to show how my truck turned out. The first was taken a few weeks after I finished the wheels and running boards. The second was after going paintballing with friends and finding a road closed to non 4x4s. I included this so you can see the beating I put on the dip. I do not baby my truck as it is a truck and it is intended to work and get dirty. (although I do try to clean it regularly) The final photo was after a good cleaning about 6 months after I dipped them. I do not have a current photo but they are holding up pretty well. I have only had a few spots that started to peal, and I attribute that more to my prep work than to any issue with the dip. FYI - I do not have a single scratch that has penetrated the 5 layers of dip I put on, although I will wan you this stuff loves to absorb mud, so cleaning takes longer than a standard rim.
Hope this helps,
