What should I use to clean my wheels before plastidipping?

"- How should I prep my wheels or car before dipping? DYC always suggests using PreDip Spray and paper towels to prep the wheels or car before dipping. This will eliminate and grease, oil, dirt, debris or wax that may hinder the dip's ability to bond. Allow the surface to dry completely, any moisture (even if it is not visible, behind body panels or trim) could negatively affect the bonding process and lead to bubbling. A clean and dry surface is essential."

Use Dawn dish soap which cuts the grease and grime well. Allow to dry fully before spraying. If you have a lot of brake dust build up get scrubbing.

I used acetone on my wife's rims and it cut through the brake dust on the inside of the wheel. I would do as MGD said and make sure they are completely dry. Are you taking them off to spray them? I used the note card trick and it left the edge rim the original color, and now I worry about it peeling right there. I think next time I am just going to over spray onto the tires and just peel it off the tires once it dries.

I did my Mustang's Bullitt style rims a few years ago.
I washed them with regular car soap, let dry, then rubbed them down with rubbing alcohol.
No issues, and they still look great.

I did mine last year using rubbing alcohol and the note card trick. Very happy with how they turned out and how they have held up to the beating I have given them. Only disappointment was using the notecards did leave the edge of the chrome rims exposed. It has only peeled in a very small spot that I had to touchup after pulling the notecards out. When it warms up I plan to hit the edge of the rims again and then do as Ricky498 said, and paint the tire and peal it off the rubber.

Wash wheeles with car wash then use meguiars metal polish. I use it and works GREAT! Helps keep break dust off and other crap. I use twice a year on each of my vehicles.
