What are the negatives of a leveling kit?

The frontal area is increased some. The truck's center of gravity is raised too, which won't help handling.


So why didn't Ford just build them "leveled"? What were the Ford engineers thinking?


We're certainly all much smarter than the Ford engineers are, but perhaps they had some reasons for this one.

Better question; what are the positives of leveling? I know of none.

You will lose up-travel and will overextend down-travel. This might not be a big deal if you don't offroad though.

I put a leveling kit on my truck last year in June. I did hear some clunking when it first was installed. It settled in later on. I dropped off my truck to have my Rancho 4in Lift installed and should be getting it back today. One of the main reasons why I wanted to buy a 4in Lift was to not only return the suspension to stock geometry but to also give me the lift of course.
