Question What The Heck Are These?

Pulled the panel off the left rear door on my 2010 F150 SuperCrew to remove and repair the wiring harness. Not only was I having the problem with the occasional door ajar warning, but it finally got to the point where the electric lock would not work. There was one broken wire (lock) and 3 others where the insulation was worn away and about to break. (As much as I've always been a Ford guy, this was a REALLY bad design).

After I pulled the panel off, I found these two plastic pieces on the ground that must have come from somewhere on/behind the panel:

Anyone know where these came from? Better yet, anyone got a picture of where they should be?

Thanks

They look like some sort of broken plastic tabs. Probably helped hold the panel on to the truck.

Those are the tabs you broke when you took the panel off.

Did you lift up before pulling the panel out? Or just pull it straight out? Kind of looks like the tabs that you have to line up to go into the slots around the panel, holding it in place.

Yep, sure did. I was real careful to lift the panel straight up, then out, after removing the 4 bolts.

I took the other panel off over the weekend, looking for where those might be. Could not see where they came from. Then when I went to put that panel back on, I found just one of those tabs on the ground. Took another look at the panel, assuming there must still be one there. After about 15-20 minutes of looking at every square inch of that panel, I still could not find it!

Here is a link with photos to a thread that helped me fix "Door Ajar" warning lights.

Here's the video I found:

Removing the wiring harness makes it a lot easier to repair.
