What GEARS?
It all depends on what you do with the truck, if you pull regularly anything over I would say 5,000 lbs I would buy a truck with 3.73 gears, if you only pull a bit under 5,000 3.55 would be good, and if you use the truck just as a daily driver 3.31 would be the most fuel efficient, Rim size doesnt make a difference because the overall diamater of the tire is the same as if it was only 17 inch wheels. Now dont get me wrong, you can tow more then 5,000 lbs with 3.55 gears but 3.73's would just help you out that much more. Hope this helps ya
If 5.0, I personally recommend 3,73's. But, it depends a lot on where you live and if your going to tow. I live in WV with lots of hills. The 3.73's are just right to keep the engine where it does not hunt for gears on the interstate. I would have checked 4.10's if I could have. My best mpg so far was 21.9 mpg on a beach trip last summer. Local driving averages mid 16's.

Yeh im probly not going to do alot of towing, just looking for the fastest qt mile times, and best fuel, i would maybe tow a cattle trailer once in a while, but nothing more. going with a 13 scab 4x4 i think, with the 302a package, and 20 inch rims, color i havent decided on yet, thats a tough one
