What gauge wire
Is throughout my 2010 truck?
I ask because I need to order some scotch locks so I can tap in the power for my lighting.
What's the best item to use for this?
Where can I find a hot wire..... Looking for it to be below the current light switch area.

I'll atleast give you a bump........
Ford uses all different gauges of wire throughout your truck. The wire going from your battery to your starter is probably 6 gauge. I'd say that most of the wiring in your truck is going to be from 12 ga on the heavy end to 18 ga on the light end. If I were you, I'd buy some blue & red scotch locks. You'll probably need the blue. But if you're running some low amp LEDs then you might could get by with some thinner wire, and use the red.

You might want to consider Posi-Taps, rather than Scotch Locks. They cost a little bit more, but they do far less damage to the wire insulation and the are easily removed. Here's a link for more info:

You can sometimes find them at Lowe's and Wal-Mart, and auto parts places.

No, unfortunately they're still about a buck apiece. I found some at an Agway in NH once and they had them priced at about $0.50 each - I bought a handful. They're worth the extra cost to me because I think they're more reliable than other tap/spice methods, EXCEPT soldering of course, but that isn't always possible.

As far as something to splice wires together the 3M crimp, solder, and seal connectors are great. I bit the bullet and bought a big assortment online of them. Check em out if you haven't.
