Drive by a oil refinery and all U see is smoke and burning gas flumes an the smell. Drive by a Ethanol plant and all U see are clear skies. The burning, smoking oil refinery can be seen for 10 miles.

The PRODUCT is good. The idea that is was some green superfuel sure, it not what they say it should have been. In the beginning it was a net negative energy output but now it's a net positive of 30-40%. Those that still try to say that it's a net negative still don't account for byproduct use And factor in that gasoline would have simular transportation fuel use.

The real good for ethanol will be when we can use cellulose for ethanol in high volume because it should be far more efficient to produce. Keep in mind that ethanol has been used in the internal combustion engine since it was invented.

It makes no financial sense to use E85 long term, but I plan to use a couple tanks a year. I will mainly use it to help clean things internally, with the added bump in power as a perk.

Exactly. I drive out filled with 87 octane into that strong wind blowing from the NW getting sometimes below 20 MPG even down to 18.5 in the open. Using near 14 gallons. Fill up with E85 mostly because it is so hot, way over 90 degrees and get bumping on 20 MPG coming back with the wind pushing me. Motor doesn't even work pulling the long hills. The price difference is near $.45 a gallon difference. Sometimes a fill can save me $10.50 an I still have a range over 425 miles. Better than any other truck I have owned even burning E85 in hot weather.

Right now because gas prices have come down. As gas prices increase and cellulosic ethanol comes to fruition which will lower ethanol prices you might change your tune. I do plan to run 91 most of the time but put in e85 when I'm near a station like when I hit the track.

Exact same price here. It was .50 cheaper.

Burning 14 gallons going out into that wind I can't make it back home on a tank. It makes sense in hot weather to fill with E85 to come back.

Maybe. No matter what the gas prices are though, around me E85 is never more than 10% off the price of regular 87. Today it is used primarily by government vehicles and there are not many stations carrying it. So they can charge whatever they want since the government uses it regardless of price. Some day, if they can lower the cost of production to improve demand/distribution, it will be used more.

Oh totally looking forward to the next evolution of ethanol after being fed lies about the current one all these years.

Ethanol makes a great air conditioner. Just put a little on a small area of UR shin on a very hot day. Too bad it is so combust-able.
