What is this for on the dash? I can see a small sensor or chip in there but I am not sure what it is??

Interior temperature sensor. My truck has manual A/C and has it as well. It's used by the remote start climate control function to determine weather or not to turn on the defrost or A/C if you have it set to do so.

Okay I also have remote start, I have not noticed it turning AC or heat on by itself on the cold mornings, does it turn it on even i had the heater turned off when I last left the vehicle?

Its the vehicles Ambient Temperature Sensor... Its used whether you have R.S. or not! I have one in my 12 XLT, that didnt come with oem R.S.! But I did add the 100 R.S....

You have to have the HVAC set to Auto in the R.S. Vehicle settings, in the gauge cluster screen for it to select what to enable!

Otherwise if you leave it on Last Selected, such as if you had the heat on when you turned off the truck. Then the heat will be on when you R.S. it!

Manual climate control will only go to what ever your last setting was. Computer can't change anything for you.

How do you access the remote start settings? I have seen " reset for remote start " in my cluster settings but nothing else pertaining to the remote start system
