That's probably why 04+ f150s are notorious for blend door failures because crap gets sucked up in , you should see the stuff I find in my other cars filter every 10k miles

this would explain a lot of vehicle smells....

i just read a bit of a thread from another forum....

the smell was described at a cat box. my f*cking word!!! a guy could buy a vehicle with that thing, get it detailed, dump a new cabin filter in it...

and sell if for $4000 profit

i'm still searching tho.

same thread said there's nothing for a 04-08 truck.

i've got a 2010 and have always wondered what those two plastic clips are about near the defrost vents. i've pulled one off, but never thought anything of it.

About 10-15 mins before you arrive at your destination, turn the ac off and just blow normal cold air, even "recirculate" it if you like.

Its just that easy!!!!

Youll notice the odor will go away.
I always do that anyway to dry the evap and use up the cold that's left in there - this smells almost like a mild paint or solvent smell when it does it - played around & had it on every setting this morning on way to work & no odor at all - anybody else with newer truck notice the clutch engages & diss engages about 10 second intervals or does ur clutch stay engaged most of the time on max AC ?

When Its hot out and i kick the ac on, i progressively turn it up. Until Im at max setting, and recirculating, i keep the back windows down about 3 inches to let the cab flush out the hot air and have fresh air in before i close it all up...Its been like that for the past ten years on my 2002 Dakota and now my 2010.

Yeah, you really gotta air it out before you flip on the a/c.
I let the windows down, turn on the fan to max, let the cab air out a little, turn on the AC to max, let that run out of the vent a little, then progressively raise up the windows. When its getting cool, i turn to recirc.

You don't know how many people I've seen just get in a 100 degree car, and flip on the ac, windows still up and expect the unit to cool down the car, and if you got leather seats, its worse! I love how car dealers demo cars and trucks flip on the a/c the second they get in when going for a test drive. I made the last one sweat because I was more concerned about power WITHOUT the a/c and I was listening for road noise, and squeeks and rattles more than anything. I remember testing the a/c the last 5 minutes...
