Default weird smell from ac

Their is a weird chemical odor that comes out of my ac for short periods of time maybe every 15 minutes or so. It doesn't smell like antifreeze and its not really a musty smell. I'm wondering if it might be refrigerant leaking from the ac. Has anyone else had this problem, or know what it might be? I have a 2010 xlt btw.

Thanks

Mine is at the dealer for same exact thing. Smelled like vinegar or something sour. Not sure exactly what the problem is but I'll update back once I pick it up tomorrow.

Any update on this Moody? I have the same issue and was wondering what your dealer said? I have a 2011 XLT. Definitely not mildew. Smells like chemicals?

Could be your a/c refrigerant leaking . . . It has a alcohol sorta smell (tetrafluorethane). If you have the air on regular a/c (drawing from outside), it cold be drawing that smell from the engine compartment.

Check the air on MAX A/C and recirculating within the cabin, and see if you still smell the substance.

This smell can be caused by eating chili dogs, confirmed by my grandson this past week on a 500 mile trip in our SHO.

I also have this same problem. I smell it accelerating when under Max A/C (recirculating) conditions. Any update would be awesome on this.
