Default Weird sensors..

So yesterday as I stood there, admiring the beauty that is the 4.6 3V engine I cant help but notice what appears to be a pair of sensors (much like in the old ball mice) that stand watch over the belt mounted on the front end of each valve cover. What in the ever loving hell are those things for?

That's the radio noise capacitor. There should be one on the other side as well

Basically it filters out the engine's electromagnetic noise so that it does not interfere with other electronics in the vehicle, such as the PCM, BCM, Radio, Navigation, etc.

Yeah I read that.. so very neat. It's like absorbing EMI from the air I take it, so it's not further absorbed by other wires/metal in the engine bay? The positioning is still confusing me.. either way thanks for explaining that.

Interesting. The pic didn't load for me and that the only electrical plug that I know of in the valve covers. I guess it runs along the same lines as the dohicky on laptop electric cords.
