Most of the fogs you'll get to match your factory HIDs are either going to be LEDs or you'd have to add a set of HIDs (the kit that includes ballasts, bulbs, etc. that have to be wired up). The LEDs will look great as you're looking at your truck but the light output is crap. I have a set of amber LEDs in mine now (the kind you just plug into your factory plug) and they look cool but the light output is almost non-existent when you're sitting inside the truck. They don't light up the road at all. The HIDs, on the other hand, will light up things quite a bit.

Yeah I want to try and avoid LED's for the reasons mentioned (show, no go) and don't want the work of installing HID's. So let's keep brainstorming thoughts on what the best Halogen bulb is that is closest to the HIDs?

Any other input from anyone on their experience?

I had a set of Silverstar ZXE lights (previous vehicle) and they are pretty white. Here's a comparison pic over stock halogen (Silverstar ZXE on the left)...... Not my vehicle..... It's an image I found online.

After a little more research it looks like the PIAA Xtreme White Plus would be a better option if you want Halogen. Here's a thread on it.

And thanks Rnlcomp for displaying the PIAA photo comparison.

Hopefully the Hoen bulbs will be a closer match? Pics please???
I have a set of Hoen on the way, will post pics when I get them. They are half the cost of the PIAA bulbs.

Ditto. I probably have over $200 invested in different bulbs and types and nothing has been any good, they were either too dim or the wrong color, the oem hid's have a slightly bluish tint. I'm thinking 5000k or so.

I do like how bright the piaa's are but the wrong color.

Just an FYI LEDs in the correct housing are just as bright as hids. My trucklites were just as bright as retro fit hids. This was measured with a light meter. Please stop saying they are all show no go as that is incorrect. You are spewing false info. Just say led bulbs I the factory housings are just for show.

There might be bulbs that look whiter or brighter but it is the housing they are in that is the problem. You can spend money on s bulb but to truly get better light the housings need to be fixed or replaced
