Default Want a different antenna

Hello. Great forum - been lurking for a few weeks since I bought my (new to me) 2013 STX SCab at the beginning of the month. Got a great deal on it with only 22,000 miles.

Anyway - one thing, among many, that I want to replace is the stock 3 foot tall antenna.

Anyone had good luck with shorter ones that still have good AM/FM reception?

Thanks...

I have the Cravenspeed stubby. It's not as good as the giant whip, but will pick up most of the stations around the bay area just fine. I don't listen to the radio so I didn't realy care that much. They make a 13 inch that might suit your needs. In a way I kind of miss the 18 incher because when I was at the mall the other day that roof looked awfully close!

I have cravenspeed but the bullet. Works better then the plain cravenspeed stubby. Have both of them and the bullet version works way better.

Can anyone tell me if the antenna cable disconnects at the antenna, and if not, how far under the dash do you have to go?

Thanks.

Another vote for the Cravenspeed short antenna. It's the .50 cal style and it's made of metal. I have no issues with radio reception, but I normally listen to XM anyway

I've also got the .50 cal bullet stubby from cravenspeed. For being so short (5"), it's pretty good. You definitely get some signal loss if you're not really close to the broadcast towers. A few miles east or west for me and all is OK but around the house it's kind of crappy. Still not so bad that it makes me want to go back to factory.

It goes from the antenna base to behind the glove box. Probably about 2-2.5 feet long. Pretty easy to replace using a string...

I just trimmed a inch off the stocker and super glued the ball back on top! As mine hit my garage door opening barely, and it use to drive me nuts....

I had the Craven Speed Stubby and the reception Sucked on it, but looked great. So I sold it here on the forum...
