Seriously for something that is 1k miles over they won't authorize a goodwill warranty repair? Get the engine done elsewhere, or see if ford will goodwill the engine or at least split the cost with you!!

I think in mass the car would be warrantied from a dealer for least 5k miles by law. Figured all dealers had to provide a warranty for x miles once leaves lot.

Nope, there are window stickers on used vehicles that have a big as is marked on them.

Giving the dealer the option of goodwill or I'll go else where, they might try and get ford to authorize the goodwill, it's not the dealer who is paying the goodwill, it's the dealer receiving the money from ford corporate, if given the option they should fight for you to have a portion covered.

Been working at a dealer in Canada for 12+ years, I'm speaking from experience (not that it matters)

I called 3 places for quotes. One place I've done lots of business with and the other was recommended by a family member. All were within a few hundred of the dealer. One had a re-built engine, only $1000 less for a rebuild with 65K miles. Figure it's worth it to pay an extra $1K for a new engine with 3 year warranty. Especially now that I'm spooked about buying a used engine.

The engine itself is $4500, the rest is labor, tax, etc.

I'm dealing with the Lexus dealer I bought it from. Not sure if they're going to offer me anything yet.

thats why everyone is saying to source your own engine. not from a shop. go to some salvage yards.

Not my area of expertise.

Then I bring it to a shop and ask them to install it? So if there's problems, I'm SOL.

I have a friend that used to be a mechanic. He describes bringing your own parts to a mechanic -- It's like bringing your own steak to a restaurant and asking them to cook it. Then complaining it wasn't cooked right...

Bringing your own parts to a mechanic is like saving hundreds of dollars and keeping it in your pocket because you aren't paying his 300% marked up price.

But I'll agree the 3 year warranty on a new long block is worth if if it is piece of mind you're after all. Hell you've already lost huge on this truck.
