I just picked up 30 quarts of 5w30 Mobil1 for 1.99 a quart at my military exchange. Had to hit the main exchange and two shoppettes to get them, but they weren't that far between them, maybe 3 miles round trip. Also no tax.

Ive been using ultra for the last two oil changes and plan on sticking with it. I get it at Walmart and get the motorcraft filter from autozone. The total was $42 and change including tax for oil and filter. U can't go wrong with PU or M1 so I will get what is cheaper.

Default Is ultra dead?

I had someone ask be at work for Pennzoil Ultra. It showed it was only available from Sacramento. Looking at other forums, it seems that Ultra is slowly being phased away. Is this true? Seems silly to have in the first place since Pennzoil Platinum is already great. We just got the new "natural gas" Pennzoil Platinum in.

Can't go wrong with either one. I use Mobil 1 5w-20 in my 5.0 AND for lubricating my guns..
works great for both.

I just changed my oil. I used valvoline but I've been doing a lot of research on shell rotella T. A lot of people have good things to say about it in there non diesel vehicles. Seems to clean sludge out if the engine and keep things clean. Input?

Used Penn Platinum and Motorcraft filter in my first EB on all oil changes up to 40k miles when I traded it in and now using the same in my second EB now at 10k miles. No problems or issues to speak of with either of them. I use the Platinum oil in my turbo Supra as well without issue.

^^^^This, $50+ for 6 qt of Mobil1 is insane. Not knocking PU, just saying you're getting raped on price for your Mobil1.

Pennzoil Ultra from Walmart - best price around. Pennzoil Platinum from Walmart - same deal. Both are awesome oils and meet and exceed Ford's specs.

Can't go wrong with either.

ran nothing but penz plat in my 08 ranger and 04 ranger, first oil change on the 5.0 was in a new town, they had mobile 1. Its now out of my truck and penz plat in it.
my trucks always feel better on penz plat then they do on mobile 1.
I can actually feel a performance and smoothness difference on penz, that I don't feel on any other oil
