User defined parameters reset????
On occasion when I start my 2010 FX4 my user defined parameters (like clock, seat settings, audio settings, ect...) resets. I suspected the bettery but it checks out fine. I have been running a volt meter plugged into the cigarette lighter socket and have been watching battery voltages and all looks ok. I can find no common occurance as to why this happens. It only happens once or twice a month but the other day it happened twice in a row after a 400 mile trip. Anybody out there in F150 land have any suggestions????
I have not had that happen in my FX4. But, the Jeep I traded in did it very randomly, once every 6 or 7 weeks. The Jeep dealer could never replicate / find anything wrong. (one of the reasons I traded it in!)
So, while I can offer you nothing in the way of help, I can support you and tell you that you are not crazy! (Jeep dealer even asked once "Are you really sure it is doing this?")

I have been reading the threads about the battery monitoring system here in the forum and am wondering if I should consider hooking up my radios from a location other than the battery. Although the truck reset itself even though the radios were not yet connected to the new battery I am thinking the battery would probably be better protected if I hooked the radios up via the timed relay like the entertainment system is connected or the key off position. I need to see how much power the radios consume while in their off state... The still does not address the user defined settings reset but might be better in the long run for the battery...
If you have any accessories directly wired to the battery run them to a keyed fuse in the fuse block, if you have anything with significant drain directly wired to the battery the engery saver function of the ECU will shut down all the computers in an attempt to save your battery from draining thus resetting all your parameters since all modules power down
"run them to a keyed fuse in the fuse block"
Are you talking about the fuse block under the hood or the one in the driving compartment? I need either a 30 amp or two 15 amp connections....

I replaced the battery in the truck last summer and I have not reconnected the radios yet. About once a month I fire up the truck and the clock and radio resets and all of the user defined settings are set back to factory defaults. Very annoying. Seems like there should be a fix for this and if I were to attempt to discuss it with the service rep at the dealer the problem will continue to be blamed on the radios installed in the truck regardless if they have been connected to power or not....

I have not hooked the radios back up for months. Still, at least once or twice a month my clock and user defined options resets when starting the truck. This leads me to believe there needs to be some sort of battery backup to whatever circuit that is powering this system. A very easy thing to do but I need to identify where these parameters are getting power. Any ideas out there? Anybody out there with a similar experience?

I seem to have solved many of my power issues. I had a local weld shop install an extra frame mounted battery box and I put a yellow top Optima in it with cables powering my radios. The Optima gets charged while the truck is running via a West Mountain Radio ISOpower module that automatically switched from the Optima to the trucks power system. Life seems pretty good so far and the user defined presets have not been reset since the change was made.
