USB Memory Stick with Playlists
I can't believe how difficult it is to get most albums to play in order with the Sync. The very same files and music play flawlessly on my Garmin Zumo but refuse to work on the Sync in the truck. I've tried various posted solutions including, but not limited to... editing file names to include three digit track numbers, creating .m3u playlists in WMP, MP3 Edit, Media Monkey and SyncPlaylist. How can a Microsoft product be so incompatible with other Microsoft products?
I just switched from using my iPod to a USB drive and have been very frustrated the playlists don't transfer over from iTunes. I tried to create playlists using Media Player but they weren't recognized by Sync. I'll have to give this program a whirl. I ended up buying a 2nd USB (micro) and use it in the USB1 place for my favorite music and then have a regular thumb drive in USB2. It would be nice to have all my playlists though.
I can check later what it was called if you are interested.

I have playlists working fine. The issue for me was that when I connected my thumb drive to my laptop, it showed up as Drive G. When I connected the same thumb drive in my F150, I went to the media menu and went to explore USB. There I see that my truck mounts the thumb drive as drive F. So all of the playlist (*.wpl) files on my thumb drive were pointing to G:\Music\file1.mp3, file2.mp3, ...
You can resolve this by using a text editor like wordpad on the wpl file, as it is a text file. Then I corrected all of the references to the mp3 files so they started with F instead of G in the filename paths.
Probable easier would be to make sure that the thumb drive mounts on my PC as drive F. Then use Windows Media Player to create the playlists and then copy those playlist files to the USB thumb drive.

I would love to know what that program is! I've had nothing but trouble with my USB, and that was one of the main features of the audio system I wanted, most of my music is in iTunes, odd thing is, when I first got my truck in May of 2014, I copied a few songs to a thumb drive and plugged it in and they played, so I went into iTunes and copies more songs, ever since then I get error messages telling me something to the effect that it can't play copyrighted content. I'll have to try again to get the exact message but I've been so annoyed by this! Any help appreciated, I have tried searching the forum for a topic on that but no luck.
In the early days of iTunes, digital music files were play-protected so they could only be played on authorized devices by authorized users. If you still have some of these files in your iTunes library, they can only be played using an Apple device (iPod, iPhone, iPad) or with iTunes by an authorized user. If you put these files on a USB device, the truck will give you the error message you are seeing and these songs won't be playable in the truck from your USB. All the other songs on the USB will still play fine.
I getting so close. Here is what I did, moved some music (MP3) to a memory stick, brought up a playlist program, created a playlist name with a .M3U extension(on USB stick). Read USB stick, read playlist, hit playlist name, then I "Bad Playlist" Any ideas? Will play music if I don't use Playlist..
Thanks,
Jim
