Default Underpowered speakers?

2010 XLT SuperCrew with the SYNC system. I feel like the speakers/sound volume is underpowered. Does anyone know the wattage the stereo putts out to each speaker?
Any chance replacing the factory speakers would help? I don't want it to blast me away, but there are times I would like to crank it up a little bit and this setup just won't allow it.
thanks!

I've got the same truck and am debating picking something up myself to improve sound quality and volume some. I can't seem to find a front plate for the '10 F-150 with Sync but no Nav.

Generally speaking, replacing the factory speakers will help somewhat with quality for a small and unobtrusive mod and can be done for not much money. For cranking it up some, however, you will need to add an amp and new speakers at a minimum.

I am assuming that you have the standard radio w/Sync and not one of the Sony's. I too have the standard 6-disk w/Sync and I replaced just my speakers with some Polk Audio units. They definitely made a difference but I can still tell that they are under powered. I think I'm going to add an amp but I haven't done it yet.

IMO the stock speakers arent horrendous. they act like every other speaker out there! One speaker can not reproduce frequencies from 10hz to 20k. Now...the stock radio is trying to amplify 10hz to 20hz, but the stock speakers can reproduce that. so in essence you are wasting a lot of stock amplifier power to amplify signals that will never be able to be reproduced through the stock speaker at the volume you are asking it to.

Now...you can add in a passive crossover..but basically you are still amplifying frequencies that arent going to do you squat. so what you really want is to use an active crossover. Now you can add a 2 or 4 channel amp and power your stock speakers, but make sure the amp has a built in cross over.

Now my suggestion is take the money you were going to use for speakers, and put that towards an aftermarket Nav head unit, this way you get some additional features, ad well as built in Active corssovers, and then in the future if you still feel like upgrading, ad the amp then, and if you still think you ned more...upgrade your speakers last (unless of course your speakers are already blown) from trying to ge them to play frequencies they werent intended for playing

Wouldn't he loose his Sync then? The factory head unit is also the brain for the Sync technology.

Not necessarily. Metra makes a wiring harness which allows you to keep SYNC with an atftermarkey head unit. But tell me one thing...what does SYNC do for you that a good aftermarket Nav unit cant? Play music from an external source? Aftermarket does it. Voice commands? Aftermarket does it. Dont get me wrong...Sync is pretty cool if you are 100% happy with the stock OEM radio, b/c then you dont have to go messing with anything. IMO though , you get more sound and bang for your buck with an "good" aftermarket Nav unit. Speakers would be the last thing i'd replace.

Sync will send out vehicle health reports, automatically if you configure it to do so.
