Well at least I'm not alone. Does anyone know if dealerships usually offer some type of uncarriage coating? I'd like to have the dealer remove the rust, coat everything and return it to me looking new. I know a lot of folks are saying that it isn't a big deal but I'd rather not buy something new and have it already rusted. I can't think of anything else that is acceptable to buy new and have it already be rusty (boats, lawnmowers, gym equipment, bicycles...anything?)...thanks for all the input guys! At least I know it's more of a cosmetic issue

They won't undercoat it for you. Every 5.0 driveshaft I have looked at was rusted. It's just surface rust.
