Default under door puddle lights

I did the from mirror reflector to blinker mod yesterday and I realized that the strips of LEDs were thin enough to be stuck under the door and be turned on when the doors were opened like puddle lights. I was just wondering if anyone knew what wires to tap into to get the lights to turn on when the doors open. I thought about up the A-pillar to the dome lights but there is only one in the back and the one next to the review mirror has too much stuff around it. Anyone know anything?

Anyone? I have heard that there is a purple wire in the wiring harness in the mirror housing so maybe that will work.

The security approach lights (a.k.a. puddle lights) on my 2010 F150 Platinum turn on when the remote unlock feature is activated.

If you don't get light until after you've opened the door in the dark, you have already probably stepped in it (if it's dog poop), or tripped over it (if it's a curb).

These lights also turn on when you open the door, but by that time, you've probably stepped in it.

Default Opening door to exit vehicle in dark

Wow! I sure missed that one. Open door to get out in the dark.
busbyjay is absolutely correct that the Ford approach security lights don't provide "diddly squat" for lighting the area where you are fixin' to step when the door is open.

I thought that with all the friggin' money I paid for the Platinum, I would at least get to see where I was stepping out into the dark! All I get is "stepping in".

Lucky for me I arrive at the bar when it is still daylight. I can see what I'm stepping in when I exit. It's when I get back into the truck after "last call". With the remote activated security approach lights, I can see if somebody hurled in the parking lot where I was going to step up into my truck.

I don't have the puddle light option - is it something that I can add?

Cant really tell if its sarcasm since the pictures kind of show light in front of the door and a little dim light where you step out.
