I have been having an issue with my turn signal.
A few years ago I replaced my rear turn signal and and brake lights with after market LED light assemblys and all was well.
Recently I started getting a fast blinker for left turns. That usually indicates a burned out light. I replaced the bulbs in the front and still had a fast blinker. I looked at the rear and half the assembly was blinking fast. Hmmm. I took it off and used electrical cleaner to clean all the connectors, slapped it back together. No fast blink, for a half a day.

So I put the original lights back on and again I had no fast blink....for a half a day. So process of deduction its not the lights but the switch in the steering column.

Has anyone out there in Ford land had this issue and how hard is it to replace the turn signal module. Yes its covered under warranty but it whould be a whole lot less of a pain in the bum if I did it myself.

 

I experienced something similar with my Dodge Ram, it ended up being a poor ground in the rear of the truck.

 

Did it affect one or both sides?

 

My four ways work properly, so it must be the signal switch.

 

Had the same problem when I installed LEDs on the back of my 2010. Even had a bulb in the opposite side flashing at the same time. It was not all the time, just some of the time. Fixed it when I got the right number of resistors ( for each side) squared away. Truck seems to be slightly tolerant of not having them installed but goes nuts when it detects a problem.

 

I just developed the fast blinking left turn signal in my '13... Bulbs are all working so I'll be interested in what you find. It will be at the dealership early next week

 

Did you check the seating of your front bulbs? All it takes is a poor connection to cause an issue. I would take the front bulbs out and check for a good connection.

 

Initally I thought the front was the problem and changed the bulbs. It still fast blinked.
Then I looked at the rear LED replacements. They are all one piece, resistors and all, so I cleaned all the connectors really well. Still fast blink. Only half the light though. Hmmm. I thought one of the resistors had failed so I swapped back to the original tail lights and bulbs that the truck came with. I replaced all the bulbs at that time.
Still fast blink, but only the top, just like the LED assembly.

Just for giggles I turned on my hazard lights expecting a fast blink, but they worked properly. That kind of isolated the issue in my mind to the turn signal handle on the steering column.

Keep in mind with the LEDs and the blinkers the resistors might look in tack but could indeed be burned out. Bad resistors could be the source of the hyperflash. Check the resistance reading (Ohms) of the resistors to eliminate that possibility.
