Which Tuner is Better?
I've been researching in regards to tuning and I see many different companies out there. The most famous would be SCT which is very know. Do any have any experience with different brands?
I do not want to go crazy with the tuning, I would just like that extra punch of HP/TQ without sacrificing MPG!
Thanks,

After much review over the different brands and tunes, I took some advice from some of the members here and went with an Edge CTS2. It's only been in my truck for a few days, but it has already cleaned up a rough shift between 1st and 2nd. I'm running the level 1 economy tune on it right now, and I'm looking at about 1-2mpg increase so far, again only being a few days. I'm not too worried about increasing my hp or torque, I bought it for economy. And when I put new tires on, to adjust the speedo. I've read tons of good stuff on both edge and sct, I chose the edge mainly due to aesthetics of it
Get the SCT, but get it with the custom tunes from either 5 star or MPT as you can get the tuner and tunes of your choice in a packaged deal and you will feel better improvements than any of the canned tuners on the market. I have tunes from both 5 star and mpt. I think 5 star has a better tuning strategy for every day driving as far as performance and mpg, but I don't have his race tunes, just 87, 89, 93 P/T tunes. MPT I have 93 Performance Street and 93 Race tune. I really can't compare MPT to 5star equally as I have different tunes from each for different purposes.

SCT is the company that makes the physical device and they load their own preloaded tunes on it but the tuners can also hold custom tunes from places like 5 Star, MPT tuning, ect ect so you can always add more tunes if you want to the device just so you know.

But my experience (and probably yours) wasn't a real programmer. It plugged in-line with engine harness and fooled the ECM into doing things it shouldn't be doing. I can't imagine such problems from a real programmer that flashes a file to the engine ECM.
