If the tuner used an old strategy to tune write the tune, the gear indicators wont be on. Read the computers strategy with your sct device and post it on here.

The tune will write all the variable settings. Used to control the engine, trans, dash function and every aspect of your vehicle that is programable and variable. It's called a flash, this means that it totally re-writes the chips, you can't pick and choose what aspects to write and what not to write. That is why the tuner uses a certain base tune to start with. If they have an older version of the base tune, you will have some older aspects of the programing variables

The gear indicators turn on. What the OP is saying is when he puts it in park or turns off the truck he has to turn the shift indicator back on the next time.

It still works just not Luke he is expecting. Mine works like it did the day I drove it off the lot.

The new updated flash from Ford has the gear indicator staying in the state that the truck was shut off in (off or on). Instead of defaulting to the off state Everytime the truck is shifted from drive. All the sct tuners are developing tunes from the old base tune.

Thanks Geabis thats what I was getting at. Surprises me that some people are saying there's stays on if we have tunes from presumably the same tuners.

It sounds like it has to do with the base tune they build their custom tune off of.

It gets confusing bc there are trucks without the select shift out there, there is a new flash from Ford to fix trans problems (that makes the display default to last display that was used as well as fix the shifting issue), there are column shifts, and two displays (vertical on the right (the one we are discussing)) and the lower horizontal shifter position display. And on top of that, we have introduced the sct tuner flashes to the mix with old and new base fomoco strategys. I've just been trying to chime in and clarify a little bit of the confusion , now and then.

Yes it does. They may not have the base strategy for certain pcms with the updated trans profile. I think there is something in the neighborhood of ten different pcm codes for the 2011s alone.

Best thing to do is contact Mike or Justin or who ever made your tune. After Ford does the update and after retune your truck with the sct, after being updated. So that you have the current strategy from Ford as a stock tune file. Then you can email them with the stock file and they can use it to build your tune from. They may not need it for certain pcms. And may be able to send the update without you having to go to the dealer.

Sorry for the continuing updates, I keep reading my own posts. And they read like Chinese electronics manuals, LOL
