As for the Axxess AFSI-01/02 the 02 is supposed to work with the F150 (the -02 uses the F150's existing LCD screen). However from reading through what you have to do in order to get into SYNC its a pain in the *****. Also if you use external amplifiers (the reason most of us would be wanting to switch to an aftermarket HU) you have to install an extra speaker to be able to hear the SYNC announcements...AGGH!!! There has to be an easier way. I did find the owners manual for the Visteon unit on their website and it has just about everything you'd want in an aftermarket navi. RCA outputs, rearview camera input, dvd, video and audio outputs for rear screens, usb and ipod inputs. The two dealers local to me don't do very much business with Visteon since their bankruptcy, I have one more shot in Tulsa then it's down to Texas dealers. Hopefully one will sell it to me and not require install.

why do you have to hook up a separate speaker to hear the sync voice? We would run the amp from the new head unit outputs, and those can be split off (the RCA jacks)

Could you provide the link to the instructions on how to install the unit?

That's what I'm trying to figure out. I am going to tear into my dash this weekend and have a look and see exactly how sync and the radio work together. The Visteon unit doesn't show anywhere in the manual where Sync plugs into it which leads me to believe that Sync is inline between the radio and the speakers and interrupts the radio's output.

Here's the link to the manual:

Ya I see where it says that you need another speaker. That is strange, and I still do not understand. All in all it does not look too difficult to install other than that minor annoyance.

Let me know what you see under the dash.
