05 that is good to know! Thanks!!!

I did find both sides for $550 bucks! Ford parts. Now if the insurance company plays nice I will just get both and keep the drivers for a spare... We shall see.

Personally, I would not be addressing this via insurance!

Same here, but I guess it depends on your coverage, deductible, etc.

I understand that and that is still an option. However the cost of the part alone is $550 bucks. My deductible is well below that. So why wouldn't I use it? I'm paying for the coverage?

My truck is in like new condition. except for one tiny door ding, and now my mirror. I think I forgot to mention that the chrome cap on my mirror was damaged a bit as well. Scuffed up a bit.

I am not going down the aftermarket route. The quality just isn't there. I'm also not going to give up my tow mirrors. I love them. I don't tow often but I love them for everyday driving. Backing up highway driving for blind spots they are the best. Plus I love the way they look.

I'm also not going with a different type of mirror and then gluing some chrome cap on that, don't care for that look, and it will be different then my drivers mirror.

I tried a few salvage yards around here. I'm not going down the route of trying to find one across the country that will be in the condition I want. It's not a common mirror. And yes I know I'm picky about it

I do appreciate the help here sorting this out.

So really that only leaves me with a few options. And that prices me way above my deductible.

Because it will count as a claim, and you may have another much greater one down the road! Bird strike or not, they are going to hold it against you!

I put a windshield on my motorcycle and nailed a big 'ole owl that evening with it. Thankfully, I had the shield on or the bird would have knocked me off the machine. It sounded like the the bike broke in half but no damage.

Had another owl attack my Excursion. He lost that one.

Yikes! That is crazy. Those aren't small birds. I bet that was pretty tense seeing that owl coming toward you!

Its all in the way you word it to your insurance company, "a bird ran into me" vs "I hit a bird" changes the fault behind the claim....

It was dark and I didn't see it until it hit and went past my helmet. I instinctively ducked (bird was long gone by that time) and my wife accused me of ducking so she would get nailed. "women"
