Default TreadWright Tires

Anyone have any experience? I know Rockjock was running a set a couple years ago. Wondering if they are holding up, and how's the ride quality. Also, wondering if they are heavier than similar tires. I saw an old thread on here that claimed that was the case, but I believe they have changed their manufacturing some since then. The price makes them interesting. And I like the look of them. Thoughts?

I was looking into a set last fall when I replaced my tires, I can’t speak for the tires directly because I got scared away from them because there were a lot of reviews stating belts broke, they were impossible to balance, and tread cracked and separated at low mileage, and I like my truck without poor man cut fenders

But you are right the price is very tempting!

Yikes. That's not very encouraging. I was just reading some pretty terrible reviews myself. Still, I've also seen a lot of good reviews too. Hopefully someone can give us a firsthand report.

I put two sets on my truck back when I had a 94 F150. I had the AT version and they looked almost exactly like BFG KOs and if you requested matching BFG AT carcasses you could hardly tell the difference. I ran two sets down to bald, each one lasted for about 50k miles. That being said, I had a VERY hard time finding a shop to mount and balance them. A lot of shops in MN didn't want to touch them because they were retreads. Finally I got a shop (through a buddy of mine) who basically said "as long as you tell me this is a 'off-road only' rig I'll do it." Basically all the shops didn't want the liability of mounting the tires and have the potential of it coming back to bite them in the a....if something happened. The shop told me it took 3 times as much weight to balance 2 of the tires in the second set. I had weights all over the outside of the rim and they still started vibrating at speeds over 50mph. Took them back to the shop and they said it's as good as it'll get. I daily drove them at highway speeds and never had an issue with them, outside of vibrations. If you are looking for a AT or MT tire on a tight budget they are decent tires IMHO.

ALL THAT BEING SAID....your tires are the ONLY thing keeping you on the ground and in traction. Since I ran the sets I have grown up and gone through a cheap tire blowing out accident. I will no longer buy a retread or cheap tire. Now, if I were only using the truck as a trail rig I would absolutely run them again. They have good tread designs that are based off of existing name brand designs. Just remember, tires are no place to skimp out on if you are daily driving the truck.

Just my 2 cents!

I ran a few sets on my old Land Rover trail rig. Saw moderate time on pavement and held up well. I put the biggest beating on their KM2 MT clone. That being said I wouldn't run them on a daily.

We use retreads in our fleet and they are absolute junk. They only save about $20/tire over new but when you're buying them by the hundreds I can see where the savings adds up pretty quick.

They are a royal PITA to balance if you can actually get them balanced. I'd say about 3 out of 5 balance out but take 10x more weight than should be required. I wonder if management is taking into account the cost of wheel weights when they priced these things out.

There is no way in hell I'd ever put them on my truck.

I guess I'm going to chalk these up to "if it seems to good to be true..."

I had interest just based on the look for a while. Had no idea they were retreads until I kept reading about them.
