Transmission TSB

Just got the recall done yesterday evening. It took a whole 10 minutes (for a waiting appointment, so they knew I'd be sticking around till it was done), and they reprogrammed it right in the vehicle staging area while I filled out some paperwork.
I was surprised that the shifts actually feel smoother than before. I was expecting the exact opposite. I had a rough upshift from 1 to 2 with a cold tranny that was pretty annoying, and that seemed to be gone this morning. It also feels like the tranny holds gears a bit longer. I gave it some gas to pass on the highway this morning and noticed having to give it a bit more pedal before the tranny downshifted. I'm sure everything will go back to normal once the PCM re-learns my driving habits in a few days. Haven't tried tow/haul mode, but probably will when I hook up my tool trailer tomorrow. I don't think the 'tune strategy' changed, but I do notice slight differences than before. Nothing major though. The truck still drives like before.

i had mine done yesterday afternoon, i concur with jjferrante and antony1103. gear changes are noticeably smoother, and my rough upshift from 1st to 2nd has now gone too. definitely hold the gears a bit longer, particularly when gettin on the highway and getting up to speed

I would say any shifting changes are due to a reset of the KAM (which no doubt happens during the process), and have nothing to do with the new software from this recall. You can reset it yourself anytime, just unhook the battery for 15 minutes. If you don't like your shifting, you have only yourself to blame, since it learns your style of driving.

It's applicable to the 3.5 EB as well. Just got my truck back from dealer yesterday, dealing with IWE issue. Work order indicated:
B 6R80 sudden transmission downshift powertrain control module programming
NWD No Work Done
5329 CF
51976 update not available till 2nd quarter 2019
