Default Transmission shudder

The transmission cooler broke in my radiator and mixed the coolant with ATF. As a result, coolant got into the transmission and messed up the clutches. The dealer replaced the radiator and flushed both systems.

Now there is a shudder during slight accelerations. At highway speeds it runs fine. People are saying the transmission is shot. Others saying to put Lucas into it and others say to put a bottle of friction modifier in.

I'm on a trip currently and towing a 4000 pound travel trailer. If I have the transmission rebuilt, I would prefer to do it at home which is 3000 miles away, and my mechanic friend quoted me $2000 for it.

I'm looking for suggestions as to the best temporary fix until I get back home in a couple months. I'm hearing it won't just fail on me suddenly so getting stranded shouldn't be an issue.

The dealer said it might improve on its own over time and fully recover as the clutches recondition themselves. So I'm wondering what are your thoughts on using an additive to help out.

I had trans shudder on slight acceleration, specially when towing. After a bunch of research, I added Lubegard Instant Shudder Fix from a local auto parts store and it fixed the trans shudder for me. Can't hurt to try, specially if you're mid-trip.

Yesterday I put some friction modifier in and that seems to have fixed it
