Transmission Cooler Hose Fix Tutorial
I don't know what a new set of OEM trans cooler lines cost to run that whole stretch and still keeping with the quick clips and the multiple compression fittings.
But the nice thing about the rubber high pressure hose is that it won't break because of this.

True. Rubber high pressure line doesn't last forever and for >$50 I will replace it with new hose when that time comes.

That factory replacement? I don't want to worry 8 or 10 years from now about its service interval when I'm driving on a mountain road at night in the winter.
New lines for mine will be around $250 shipped, including the smaller ones on the front that connect to the coolers.
It's honestly a little tough decision for me, but i *NEED* to do something for them, i'm just wary trusting them at this point - i've got 1000's of miles of towing to do this year and the mountain roads at night in the snow/winter is also something that happens to my truck.
Just need to get down there, i guess try and pull them around? then decide if i want to spend 200 bucks, and have things click into place, or under 50 bucks and put it together again.
Now here's the thing, if i get under there and waggle things around and it all seems solid..... then what?

Do you wanna take the chance? Literally the paragraph before you say you have a ton of driving, night and hills. You wanna risk that?
im waiting til warmer weather then im changing mine

Unless you see something obviously getting bad, I don't see what the reason would be to replace everything. Removing the quick connects with a generic hose should be a good fix.
I'm starting to consider this, and mine look great.

Yup, i'm in the same boat it seems.
If the money for the oem tubing is really burning a hole in your wallet, you can buy this upgraded cooler and even have some left over!

Very good idea if you tow.

One other point for proactively changing the lines out,
its not just the fear of blowing a line, getting towed home, replacing the line/fluid and back on the road, simple right.
the bigger problem/fear, is turning the transmission into toast. We've seen posts where this happens pretty quick when a line failure occurs, and not only the cost, but our trannys are not readily available or repairable now.
Kind of like the Fuse27 mod, pay me now, or pay me more later.

It happens to even brand new models. Very important to even over maintain today.
Yeah at least the fuse27 mod doesn't destroy something when it occurs, just leaves you stranded (not a good thing) but a ~$6000 trans that's not necessarily available anymore? That's no bueno indeed
