Default Trans leak after vacation

Help guys!

I was out of town all week leaving my truck at home. Temps dropped into the single digits, my garage is unconditioned. I went to leave for work this morning and saw a huge oil leak under my truck. After some looking I found it leaking from the front of my transmission pan. Looks like the oil is seeping out of the gasket.

Nothing abnormal to this point. Can a trans pan gasket shrink that much that oil leaks out? Anything else that might have caused this issue? This is the original oil and the truck has 98k miles.

Thanks in advance

1) are you absolutely sure it's transmission fluid, and 2) have you ever / has anyone ever replaced the pan gasket?

I bet it's this. There is an improved oring kit with black orings.

I bet it's the bulkhead connector. Going to take a longer look and wipe off everything, I saw that connector but since all the oil was collecting by the seal I thought it was that! I'll report back, I follow that Ford Mechanic in YouTube he's a genius and a life saver.

Had the exact same thing happen with mine, thought it may have been the pan gasket. It ended up being the Bulk Head Connector. All fixed now with the updated o-rings.

I'm in the process of this fix now, it's 12 degrees in my garage so while the engine was warm I was pretty productive but damn are my hands cold and cramping while I fill the oil pain back up. I'm 2.5 quarts into the first 4.5 quarts before I let the trans warm up.

The gasket I removed looked fine nothing odd. The new trans filter came with a rubber gasket so I went ahead and installed that.

I'm curious how much fluid you will need to put back in. My dealer was able to drain 10qts, so with a new filter and 10 new quarts of fluid I'm going to consider that my 50k transmission service/flush.

I'll let you know I've heard anywhere from 7-10 I guess it depends how much I lost to my floor and how much I was able to pull out from dropping the pan. Right now I have a little over 4 and I'm letting the truck warm up.

I got 7 quarts in before it was overflowing and hitting the mesh on the indicator. I assume there some line loss and a bunch stored in the trans cooler and the torque converter.

Let's see if this was the issue, fingers crossed.
