Default Trailer Sway Control Problems

I have noticed on my 09 f150 the the trailer sway turns off every time the truck is shut off. And you have to go threw the computer to turn it on every time you start the truck and its a pain to keep flipping threw the computer to turn it on every time. The dealer found the problem and told me that there is a computer problem and they had no fix at this time. Then they told me ford needs to redo the computer program in the truck to fix this. They told me it could be months or years for the fix. Today i checked this problem on my friends new 2010 f150 and his does the same thing. Please let me know if anyone else is going threw this please. The problem i have that if the computer is shutting it off what would happen if the computer started activating the brakes out of the blue.

Have you tried this with a trailer connected? Seems like the dealer wouldn't... Going to winterize my TT tomorrow, may try this.

Once set on the dash to on, the trailer sway will always be on until its manually turned off. If not, there is an issue. I set mine to on last year, and its been on since.

mine turns back to on after I turn off the engine and turn it back on forcing me to go into the settings to turn it off again. I guess I am saying it defaults to on at start up. there is no way to change this setting it is always going to default to on at start up just like the TC. It also states that this is NORMAL operation for this in the manual, I am pretty sure if someone could verifiy I would be thankful.

I have only tried this on XLT model. I have tried it with a trailer and without. The trailersway should stay in the same position you you have it set. Most owners would never know cause its not a item you would check all the time, you expect to set and and it will stay.

My '09 stays where it was set. Never had any issues with it at all.

MRMIKE411, My 2009 has done the same thing as yours since it was new. I pull a trailer quite a bit and it is a pain to have to reset it to on every time you turn the engine off. Mine turns off weather or not the trailer is hooked up. I posted the same question about a year ago and it seemed I was the only one with this problem. I just recently took my truck in for the trans upgrade and told them about the sway staying off problem and they said they never heard of it. They did e-mail the engineers several times and showed me there replys which was basically the same thing you got. I'm sure if its not a major complant it will never be addressed.

where are you guys looking to see if it is turned off. mine '10 FX4 has a button on the dash that turns the TC off and the same symbol shows on the dash when I push it. The symbol is a truck with two squiggly lines below it. I assume that it is on if that symbol is not on the dash. the trailer sway control is part of the roll stability control isn't it? i think mine is on all the time because if i push the button and get the symbol on the dash then turn the truck off and back on the symbol disappears on the dash. just going by what the dealership told me.

That's the traction control button which has nothing to do with the trailer tow control we are talking about.
