Trailer Brake Controller
My truck did not come with a towing package, no hitch and just the 4 pin plug in on the bumper. I wanted to get a factory brake controller but my research told me I couldnt. But then I decided to take apart the dash anyways and discovered the plug in for the factory Brake Controller, and also found that the fuse for it was in the fuse panel and power at the plug in. My question is where are the wires for the 7 pin plug in? Wouldve they been terminated farther up the frame?
Some trucks have all 6 wires running to the rear, some trucks only have 3. (Ground is achieved from the rear frame)
if you lay on your back under the rear bumper, follow the 4 wire harness up to the frame. There is another connector about a foot away. You may have 7 or 4. If you have only 4, you'll have to extend to the other 3 from under the hood.
there are a couple threads here on this topic already, including adding the brake controller.
be aware, there are other considerations like aux trans cooler, 2" reciever (both of which I added), etc.

Ya I already looked and Ive only got the 3 running back. I really only need to run 2 (I dont have much of a need for reverse lights on a trailer because I not only dont own a trailer with any reverse lights but ive never seen one with reverse lights either). I already have a Reese Class IV hitch installed and have the Auxiliary Trans Cooler laying on my dresser, which I will have installed by a dealership after I get the TBC installed so I can have that flashed at the same time.

i cut one of the existing lines with a tubing cutter, double flared the end, and used trans cooler hose to finish up. Then I topped off the trans fluid.
yes, the lines need to be reworked a bit. I would believe the dealer will replace with factory lines, $$$ for parts and labor.
