Default TPMS Swap

I am swapping 2016 f150 wheels on my 13. I know I need to swap the TPMS but what specifically needs to be done? Can I just take the screw on the bottom and sensor off my valve stems and swap them on to the 2016 wheel's valve stems? Any other parts or rebuild kits needed?

you could do just that, swap just the sensor, leaving the stems in there. Ususally people just buy a rebuild kit and swap that way, but it's technically doing the samething, only you get brand new parts that way. but with the wheels being 2016, the rubber in the current stems shouldn't be degraded hardly at all, you should be fine. just put some soapy water around the stems when you air them up to check for leaks, all should be fine.

I thought all Fords had the Tpms mounted into a band around the wheel that needs to be replaced and not the valve stem Tpms

2016 not compatible with 2013 tpms unfortunately.

You will need to buy the new generation sensors.

No need to buy anything.. A simple swap will work.. That is if the 16 wheels have sensors in them if not you will have to find a set.

Nope, TPMS12 is 09 to 14, while 15,16 etc are TPMS35.

I have already tried programming older sensors on newer truck, it didn't work, unless it's a Canada thing, but I doubt it.---another Mark

If he takes the 2013 sensors out of his old wheels and installs them in the his new 2016 wheels he will need to do nothing else... maybe re-train them..
